No Thanks, I won’t be opting in for overdraft protection

by Mike on September 23, 2010

Banks and Credit cards are really pushing hard for us to opt-in for overdraft and over-the-limit protection. Before the recent CARD laws were passed, these “services” were the default on most accounts.

Now, financial institutions are encouraging us to opt-in. My answer?
Thanks…but, NO THANKS!

Here is an email I just received. Of course, it was full of graphic RED Xs to ignite urgency….didn’t work. The only thing it prompted was this short post!

It’s nice to have a choice and I opted out. As for the solicitations, I’ve received inserts and mailers. What’s surprising is that a friend of mine actually received a phone call from her financial institution explaining it to make sure she understood it.
