Every Tuesday, I will post a link roundup of articles I’ve found while researching the Internet.
My weekend went nothing like expected. Those who follow me on Twitter may have read that I was rear-ended on Friday night by a drunk driver. I was stationary at a red light when all of a sudden…bam! The force from the collision sent me through the intersection and I coasted to the shoulder.
I need to stand on my soapbox before we get to the link roundup. There is no excuse for driving under the influence. It is selfish, irresponsible, and dangerous. Achieving personal finance goals is accomplished through deliberate planning and actions. This type of behavior needs to transcend to all areas of life. If you are going to consume alcohol…have a designated driver or call a cab. Your life isn’t the only one you could be saving!
I thank God I’m alive! I thank God there were no children in my car (I dropped off 4 adolescents about 5 minutes before I was hit). Sitting in a hospital for 5 hours wasn’t exactly how I planned to spend my Friday night / Saturday morning.
I want to encourage every reader not only to avoid driving under the influence, but also be bold enough to stop someone else. OK, I’ll step down now. On with the roundup!
5 Cent Nickel shares The Newlywed’s Guide to Managing Money. I’m always interested in sound advice for money and relationships. I don’t think it is talked about enough and if one of the top 4 causes for divorce. Hopefully advice like this will cause couples to talk about financial expectations early.
J.D. Roth from Get Rich Slowly debunks some big Money Myths and expresses the Importance of Thinking for Yourself. I don’t know if I agree with the money & happiness correlation, but then again maybe I do, because I don’t see happiness and joy as the same thing. Also, shocking results on the correlation between credit & spending patterns.
Wisebread shares 10 Awesome Companies Built by Teens. All I can say is these kids ROCK! I’ll be sharing this with the youth at our church. Completely outstanding!
