Along the Journey Weekly Roundup #1 “New” Edition

New Website

Every Tuesday, I will post a link roundup of articles I’ve found while researching the Internet.  This is the “New” Edition!  Not to be confused with “New Edition”, the 1980s R&B group.  But new…as in this website!  I am excited to present Personal Finance Journey. The website “officially opened” on February 1, 2010, however, I’ve been writing articles throughout the month of January.  I hope you’ll find the information here useful.  Below are just a few of the awesome personal finance articles I came across last week.  Check them out!

The Rich and Poor: My Interview With The Poor People of PNG
Craig shares his experience interviewing some of his friends in New Guinea where he works as a missionary.   It’s very insightful and personally reminded me to be thankful for the small things we use every day and take for granted. (@MH4Christians)

It’s Morphin’ Time: Transform Your Financial Life
Any article that can correlate Power Rangers & finances is worth reading!  All joking aside, Jason brings up great points about the benefits of making a change. (@MoneyMatters)

Free Federal Tax Software Download with TurboTax
You don’t need to pay an “arm & a leg” for Tax software.  Bob shares how to file your Federal taxes for free with Turbo Tax (@ChristianPF)
Note:  There are some cases when you should not do your own taxes and consult a professional.  Also, if you’re taking advantage of the homebuyer’s credit it must be filed on paper.

5 Common Misconceptions About Life Insurance
Jason debunks a few life insurance myths.  Bottom line: Be honest and up-front or risk the consequences.  (@RedeemingRiches)

Supermarket Shopping: Generics Versus “Name” Brands
Save money by buying generic items.  Michael shares his experience and cost comparison on some common items (@moneycrashers)

Top 7 Reasons I Save Receipts
Mrs. Accountability shares why she saves receipts, something I need to do a better job of organizing!

Here are a few Carnivals I was listed in.  Be sure to check out all the great articles!

Carnival of Debt Reduction
Carnival of Personal Finance #242: Fun Tax Facts, hosted by CashMoneyLife (@cashmoneylife)
Carnival of Money Stories II ~ Tell Me a Fairy Tale, hosted by ModernTightwad (@andi_blackwell)
