It's amazing how fast computers change! Now you can find 2GB on a thumb drive.

I'm going Refurbished next time as well and as long as there are Free distros of Linux and Open Office they don't need to load a lick of software! I'll configure it myself :)

I made a similar mistake when buying my first computer like 15 years ago. The specs would be laughable today - I was amazed at the huge 2gb hard drive - but at the time it was state of the art.

I spent almost $1650 on the computer - and while it lasted for a few years, I could have bought a similar but not as flashy model for hundreds less. I paid way too much in interest on that computer - as did you.

I learned my lesson and I haven't spent more than $400 on a computer since then, and I always do my research now.

15 years later, my latest computer was a dell refurbished desktop that was the latest and greatest - and still only cost me $350.

Quite a story. Lucky this was only a 2000$ mistake and that you learned it so young.

Thank you for sharing most people are afraid to admit their mistakes. Guess what it is easier to learn from someone else’s mistake than your own!
